El Molino's Sam MacDonnel and Analy's Yogi Bazzano are returning veterans for their respective wrestling teams this season.

El Molino hosts annual Novice Tournament
FORESTVILLE – Analy and El Molino wrestling teams kicked off the winter campaign in earnest on Saturday at the annual Novice Tournament, a meet designed for young wrestlers getting their first taste of high school competition.
This year’s Novice Tourney was hosted by the Lions in Forestville, and featured a full complement of West County athletes garnering medals.
The Lions were led by first-place finishers Abraham Martinez and Jose Zavala, while Analy’s top medalists included Mari Mendoza and Jackson Jones. Other Analy’s second-place medalists included Gigi Abramson, Alex Perreira, and Victor Lameyse.
Tigers looking to move up in SCL
Veteran Analy coach Ryan Stevens is back after a one-year hiatus, fielding a team with a good mix of seasoned talent and promising newcomers.
The list of veterans includes seniors; 113-pound Dalton Gavrilov, 126-pound Austin Henry, 138-pound Dustin Blumenthal, 145-pound Yogi Bazzano, 152-pound Ben Talcott, 152 pound Spencer Perdue, 170-pound Cosmo Hahn, 182-pound Elan Seabourne Leite, and 195-pounder Ariel Merhav.  
Analy juniors are 113-pound Jade Wight, and 132-pound Kim Juarez-Rico, while sophomores include; 106-pound Trevor Bagan, 120-pound Jackson Jones, 126-pound Justin Adams, and 195-pound Alex Perriera.
The Tigers have a solid group of freshmen that features; 106-pound Victor Lameyse, 106-pound Preston Bagan, 113-pound James Carreras, 120-pound Jaden Siegel, 120-pound Conar Abramson-Davis, 132-pound Gigi Abramson, 145-pound Dylan Ingham, and 160-pound Mari Mendoza.   
Lions welcome new coach
El Molino will have a new look this year under first-year head coach Blair Moreno, who takes over for veteran coach Bill Borges.  He is assisted by his son, Blair Moreno Jr.  
The Lions have a nucleus of returning athletes that include some of the best in the area in senior section qualifiers Sam MacDonnel, Josh Wright, Leo Garza, Christian Ohlin and Eddie Lopez.
Although there was no official roster available at press time, El Mo will have a relatively young roster loaded with underclassmen eager to make their mark.
Next up for local wrestlers is the annual San Marin Green & Gold Tournament in Novato this Saturday, Dec. 12. The action starts at 9 a.m.
