The Risk Press Gallery is featuring quilts by Pauline Pellini and Patti Dedrick until Aug. 28. The quilts will be on display and the artists will be on hand to answer questions at the gallery, located at 7345 Healdsburg Ave., Sebastopol.
“The people coming in have been so kind in their comments,” said Pellini, who has been quilting since 1996 and has created custom pieces for several local organizations such as the Sebastopol Volunteer Fire Department, Food For Thought, The Sebastopol Area Senior Center and the local Rotary clubs, among others.
Sebastopol’s Volunteer Firefighter of the Year, Venessa Mann was on hand the first day of the display, selling about $250 worth of raffle tickets for the SVFD.
Pellini credits her friend Nancy Samples for her love of quilting.
“Nancy taught me how to do it and I became addicted,” Pellini said.
The Risk Press Gallery in Sebastopol offers space each month, free of charge, to an artist or artists, allowing them to create their own space in the gallery. They hang their own displays, write and distribute advertising, arrange their openings, and post and manage their own hours.
Risk Press receives no commissions or fees, but encourages artists to create their own unique experience and network with other artists who have either already displayed their work, or are scheduled to show in the future.
The next show will be Hand-Crafted Books,” and will run from Sept. 1 to 23. There will be an opening on Friday, Sept. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m.
