It was a great day for baseball on Sunday, April 2, as Cloverdale Little Leaguers, coaches and officials kicked off the 2017 season with the annual Opening Day ceremony at Daly Field.

Festivities began with the traditional parade of teams and the playing of the National Anthem.

The league paid special tribute to several men who were responsible for the building of Daly Field including Mario Michelon, Don Goodman, Steve Pellegrini, David “Rookie” Lemley and Wil Brutout, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Others who were honored were Ron Agnew, Pierre Giovanatto, John Santana and Dale Spellbring.

This year’s Little League features 182 participating players, filling out 16 teams in five divisions from T-Ball to Juniors. Regular season games run from April to the end of May, followed by the Tournament of Champions and ending with the District-35 All Star tournaments in July.
