The CHS men’s and women’s cross country teams secured another league victory at their home course last Wednesday, Nov. 1.
Paden Collard led the varsity boys team over the three-mile course in a personal best time of 17:02. Everett Conway (20:52), Tucker Morgan (21:29), Finn Addison (21:30) and Joel Mendoza (23:22) rounded off the scoring — a total of 27 points. Miguel Gonzalez (23:45) and Alex Visconti (28:10) secured the win as the sixth and seventh runners for the Eagles, allowing Cloverdale to edge Willits by one point, 27-28.
The girls race was won by Cloverdale’s Julie Edwards, who finished in a personal best time of 22:07. Cristina Cardenas (26:24), Eden Winniford (26:53), Grisselle Herrera (27:07) and Gaby Ganoa (27:13) secured the win over Willits as the remaining five scoring runners. Sami Santanta (28:22) and Sophia Witt (29:46) had strong races, with Witt, a freshman, completing the course for the first time.
The CHS Eagles were scheduled to compete at the Coastal Mountain Conference Championship race in Point Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 8 (after press time). The team would like to thank the parents, teachers and administration for their continued support.
