Eagles beat Middletown, Lower Lake; improve to 12-1
The CHS varsity volleyball team continued to pile up wins on the NCL 1 circuit this week, scoring victories over Middletown and Lower Lake.
The wins pushed the Eagles’ season record to 4-0 in league and an impressive 12-1 on the year.
At press time the ladies were prepping for scheduled home and away matches against Kelseyville (Sept. 26) and at Fort Bragg on Thursday, Sept. 28. Start times beginning with the JV are 5 and 6 p.m.
Cloverdale began its latest stretch at Middletown on Sept. 19, overcoming a slow start to defeat a determined Mustangs’ squad in four sets; 22-25, 25-17, 28-26, 25-15.
Statistical leaders for the Eagles were setter Hannah Bireschi (30 assists, 5 blocks), Camryn Figueroa (19 digs, 13 kills) and Tehya Bird (18 digs, 14 kills).
“These performances and great support from everyone else helped to secure our third straight win in league,” CHS coach Margaret Fitzgerald noted.
Cloverdale returned home to host Lower Lake on Sept. 21, again fighting off a strong challenge to best the Trojans in four games; 25-12, 25-22, 18-25, 25-18.
The Eagles had plenty of great efforts to go around, including Figueroa (15 kills, 8 digs), Bird (13 kills, 32 service points, 10 aces, 12 digs), Jaedyn Jenkins (16 digs), Bireschi (22 assists, 5 kills) and Shaye Stewart (7 kills, 10 service points, 3 aces).
