The Cloverdale Little League will be represented by two all-star teams in District 35 Tournament action this week, the final phase of the 2019 baseball season.
Taking the field in their respective all-star tourneys is the CLL 10-Under squad and the Junior team.
The Junior squad, led by manager Jason Jenkins and coaches Ian Jones
and Matt Lemley, compiled an outstanding regular season record of 10-4 before kicking off the postseason.
The CLL junior team includes Kolby Jenkins, Emilio Diaz, Dylan Jones, Casey Lemley, Audie Hanes, Dominic Vellutini, Travis Wilson, Diesel Cavallo, Caden Axell and Ayal Fitchelber.
Cloverdale opened all-star District 35 action on Saturday at defending champion Sebastopol, easily defeating their hosts 12-2 in five innings. Pacing the Cloverdale hitting attack were Dom Valintini (3 for 3), Audie Hanes (3 for 4) and
Kolby Jenkins (3 for 4). All throwing 20 pitches for the CLL stars were hurlers Audie Hanes, Dylan Jones, Emillo Diaz and Caden Axell.
“The entire team hit very well,” manager Jason Jenkins reported. “This team has played together all season and that’s an advantage when you get into the all star tournament.”
Cloverdale squared off against a strong Santa Rosa American team on Sunday, falling 14-4. At press time the CLL stars were preparing for a Monday, June 24 elimination game with Petaluma National.
The 10-Under all star team, led by manager Carl Howell and coaches Adolpho Espinoza and Cheyene Langston, will open the District 35 tournament on Saturday, June 29 against Ukiah at Rincon Valley Little League (11 a.m.). The team includes Jaxson Randolph, Vaughn Randolph, Danny Espinoza, Caleb Howell, Evan Robledo, Jayden Jackson, Cash Langston, Kingston Cavallo, Damian Flores, JR Damian, Chase Tilghman, Tristan Huls and Wyatt Plum.
