SPRING HEAT — Collin Patterson fired eight innings to help notch a 4-3 win at Lower Lake on Friday.

The varsity baseball Eagles hit a road-bump in a string of league outings last week, dropping two of three games played.
Cloverdale opened the stretch with losses to St. Helena (6-4) and Middletown (2-1), closing out the stretch with a much-needed 4-3 win at Lower Lake in eight innings.
At the time of this writing, the Eagles (4-3, 7-7) were prepping for an April 16 trip to Clear Lake, before returning home to host Willits this Friday, April 19. Cloverdale will travel to Kelseyville on April 23. All games start at 4 p.m.

The April 9 clash with St. Helena was a see-saw battle, as the Eagles got a three-run dinger from Logan Axell in the opening frame to grab a
4-0 lead. The cushion was short-lived, as the Saints fought back to knot the contest at 4-4 in the second. It was all the Eagles could muster the rest of the way as St. Helena went on to a 6-4 win.
Sharing pitching duties were David Alvarez (4 IP, 6 hits, 2 ERs, 5 Ks), Dylan Scaramella (1.2 IP, 1 hit, 4 ERs, K) and Collin Patterson (0.1 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs). Top hitters were Axell (1 for 3, HR, run, 3 RBIs), Josh Lemley (1 for 3, run, RBI), Patterson (1 for 3, 2B, run) and Alvarez (1 for 2).
The bats were quiet again the following day at Middletown, as the Mustangs made two runs scored in the first inning stand up in an eventual 2-1 victory. Starting pitcher Keller Sibert (6 IP, 8 hits, 2 ERs, 7 Ks) deserved a better fate, while leading batters included Tyler Ruys (1 for 2, 2B, RBI), Patterson (1 for 2, run) and Lemley (1 for 3).
