At their final meet on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Willits, the Eagle girls ended their regular season undefeated for the second year in a row. With five runners on each team Cloverdale, with 21, handily beat Willits and Clearlake whose final scores were 51 and 52 respectively.  St. Helena did not have five runners, so their team finishes did not count.
Eagle runner Angela Romero broke the girls’ best time run this season at the 2.87 mile course with a time of 20:18, which beat her previous best time, 20:20, set earlier this season. Freshman Katie Edwards ran an excellent time of 21:00 and placed second overall, followed by a very good team effort. In a field of 24 runners, Anabelle Doyle finished fourth; Ariana Fernandez finished fifth; Liliana Ramos finished ninth and Kelsi Sibert finished 13th.
Boys’ team runner Emmet Lawson, a freshman, finished fourth overall in a field of 21 runners with a time of 18:29. The team’s best effort of the year also included the following: Matt Baker finishing 10th with a time of 19:28; Nick Schneider-19:47; Nick Rilea-19:56 and Jacob Torres-20:59.
Coach Clint Kemp commented, “I am very proud of my student athletes and their season’s overall performance.”
