The graduating class of student/athletes of 2014 from Cloverdale High School will be remembered for their many accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom.
The athletes selected in this issue were among the best and brightest of their class and all had one thing in common- they represented their school and teams with tremendous talent, dedication and sportsmanship.
Although there were too many seniors to list, we congratulate all of the athletes for their accomplishments and pay tribute to a few with words and pictures.
(1) Leadership – Amy Mora will be remembered as one of the best athletes to wear an Eagles uniform as a skilled starter on varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams. A perennial All-Leaguer, Mora helped lead the Lady Eagles to league titles in all three sports during the 2013/14 school year. (Greg Clementi)
(2) Consistency – Josh Holden was a mainstay on Eagles football, basketball and baseball teams during a star-studded athletic career at Cloverdale, using his considerable athleticism to excel in each sport.  He was a gifted quarterback in the fall, and a bruising forward on outstanding basketball teams.  He spent his spring as a reliable hitter, pitcher and fielder for the varsity baseball program.  (Jean Fruth)
(3) Skill –Jazmin Orozco was equally talented whether on the soccer field, basketball court or softball diamond, rising to become an all-time great and one of the best athletes of her graduating class. She earned All-League honors in each sport and led her teams to NCL-1 championship pennants her senior year. (Greg Clementi)
(4) Talent – Isiah Warren was a gifted basketball player that comes along only once in a generation, an athlete with the ability to raise the level of play of each of his teammates.  Warren was regarded as the best all-around player in the league his junior and senior seasons, with a scoring average of over 20 points per game.  Along the way he helped the Eagles compete for an NCL-1 title and reach the North Coast Section playoffs each season. (Greg Clementi)
(5) Endurance – Shaylee Stotts was arguably the best track & field athlete of her graduating class, rising to become one of the best middle-distance runners in the North Bay. Along the way, Stotts was a frequent winner on the high school track circuit and finished up as one of the best 400 Meter runners in school history.  (Michael Lucid)
(6) Character – Shane LaPant will go down as one of the top basketball players during a distinguished career at Cloverdale, helping his team to multiple winning seasons.  Part of the “Big Three” which included teammates Isiah Warren, and John McMillan, LaPant averaged 12 points and six rebounds per game in an outstanding senior campaign that culminated in an NCS playoff berth. (Jean Fruth)
Production – Shaylee Roberts was a go-to player for the league champion Lady Eagles basketball team during a superb career at Cloverdale, leading the team to an unbeaten league season this year.  A great shooter, defender and ball-handler, Roberts averaged double figures in scoring and was a driving force in propelling the team to the NCS playoffs.
Versatility – Viviana Martinez was a highly skilled and productive member of outstanding Lady Eagles soccer and basketball teams during a sensational sports career at Cloverdale, helping each program reach the post-season. Equally gifted in both sports, Martinez enjoyed a great senior campaign that ended with a pair of league championship pennants.
Athleticism – Zach Rege enjoyed a successful high school run at Cloverdale on varsity football and basketball teams, helping each squad to a winning season.  A powerful running back and linebacker on the gridiron, Rege was a key player on both sides of the ball. His strength translated well to the basketball court, where he was a powerful rebounder and inside presence.
Heart – Kelsi Sibert was another link to championship basketball and softball teams for Cloverdale, helping both to hoist league championship pennants this year. A steady guard on the basketball court, Sibert was among the team leaders in scoring and assists.  She was just as valuable as a hard-hitting outfielder on the softball diamond, using a clutch bat to drive in 19 runs, the second highest total on the team.
