The Cloverdale cross-country team put the final touches on a strong league season in a dual meet with Clear Lake on the 2.8-mile course at Bothe Park in St. Helena on Nov. 4.
Clear Lake took top honors in the varsity boys competition, posting an 18-37 win.
The Eagles, competing with a young squad that included one senior, one junior and five sophomores, finished the league season with a final meet record of 3-4.
Leading varsity runners against Clear Lake were Nick Rilea (19:49), Tyler Wanke (19:51), Juan Guitterez (19:54), Everett Conway (21:04), Derick Rilea (22:58) and Joel Mendoza (23:04).
Katie Edwards was the top finisher for the Lady Eagles in the varsity girls race, claiming second place in a field of 29 in a sizzling 21:29.
Also turning in impressive efforts for Cloverdale were Julie Edwards (9th place, 22:25), Grisselle Herrera (23:22), Cristina Cardenas-Ayala (23:54), Sami Santana (26:38) and Eden Winniford (28:04).
The Lady Eagles finished the season with a dual meet record of 5-2. Next up for the “Running Eagles” is the Coastal Mountain Conference Championships on Thursday, Nov. 12.
