Work is set to begin this week on 54 miles of major roads in unincorporated Sonoma County. Improvements range from rebuilding roads to treatments that keep good roads in a good condition. This work will enhance a total of 255,515 average daily vehicle trips; however the construction will have unavoidable traffic impacts.

“The investments we make in our roads improve the daily lives of Sonoma County residents,” stated Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Shirlee Zane. “We will minimize traffic impacts to the greatest extent possible, while still working efficiently to protect our tax payer’s investment. We are grateful to neighbors, commuters, drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians for their patience through construction.”

Below is a summary of which roads will be under construction, and the type of work that can be expected. For details on which sections of road will be affected, traffic impacts, and weekly schedule updates visit http://sonomacounty.ca.gov/TPW/Projects/Current-Paving/.

Due to the unprecedented storms this winter, and the need to coordinate with projects by other Agencies, the 2017 program has been divided into phases. The 54 miles under construction this summer are part of a 97-mile program approved by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors last year.
