More than 40 celebrated authors will gather in the Santa Rosa
Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 13 for solo readings, panel discussions,
poetry jams and book signings. It’s all part of the Sonoma County
Book Fair, being sponsored by the Sonoma County Literary Arts
Guild. Nationally recognized authors such as Peter Beagle (The Last
Unicorn), Lynn Freed (House of Women), Jesse Shepard (Jubilee King)
and Emily Leider (Dark Lover: The Life and Death of Rudolph
Valentino) will be joined by local authors such as Michele Anna
Jordan (The BLT Cookbook) and Sara Andrews (Killer Dust). The
climax of the day will be the announcement at high noon of the new
year’s Sonoma County poet laureate. Call Katy Dang at 544-5913 for

Full Moon & Tea
Freestone’s Osmosis Enzyme Bath and Massage Center will
celebrate the next full moon (Sept. 10) at its new meditation
garden. The $12 admission benefits neighboring Occidental Area
Health Center. Shakuhachi recording artist Philip Gelb will perform
on the Japanese bamboo flute. The Osmosis garden features a
waterfall, koi and more than 60 tons of ornamental stone. The
serene environment tells a story through rock sculpture inspired by
the Chinese Zen parable of the ox and the ox herder. Fore
information call 823-8231. A second garden ceremony is scheduled
for Oct. 9.
